What is a Laminate Pass and whats it really called?

A laminate pass, So what is it? It’s has been called so many names over the years, you may hear the following thrown out at a gig, show, concert or event.

Backstage Pass, All Access Pass, AAA Pass, A Laminate, A Stickie or simply “how do I get backstage"

The most popular term in my expericence is “backstage pass” plain and simple

A little History

Back in the day and were now talking about talking the 1950’s onwards, did passes exist? Elvis used a ribbon, The Beatles had a pin badge, but most passes were stickers or stickies as there known now, the press had their own cards as in the cliched press pass you would see in the movies stuck in the brim of their hat. all simple one colour designs with maybe the name of the artist or the promoters name with location printed, they were pretty much just a piece of paper not unlike a business card or simply a sticker for one use only.

Roll on the 70’s & 80’s and this was pretty much where proper artwork was introduced the logo of the band or artist on the pass and it proudly placesd in a pouch, heat laminated and hung by a piece of cord or what we now call a lanyard.

Why do they exist?

So you get a tcket for the gig of the year you go have the time of your life but you always know theres more.

Whats backstage and how do I get to go there????? You dont, unless you have the Backstage pass 

Backstage is now to you the inersantum and you want to know more, who get to go there what goes on there and what do they do back there.

Really backstage and the pass that lets you go there is to seregate the people who need them and not you. and to provide a safe envirment for thoese how need them

People who need them are primerely crew, promoters, the venue staff and artists (not all artists are reconisable to staff) 

Its a simple system effective and works.

Over the years passes have come from been a simple piece of paper with minimul one colour print to beyoind collectable pieces of artwork representing the band artist or Rockstar. 

Many forms of passes now exist from full colour, holographic, heat foiled and so on.
